Lundbeck presents http://www.psychiatrylink.com The development of the first version of Lundbecks new Internet site, PsychiatryLink, was completed at the end of 1997. PsychiatryLink has been created in collaboration with an international team of psychiatrists with a view to using the latest technology to meet our customers daily need for information and a desire to debate professional questions with colleagues across national borders. It was a clearly formulated goal for Lundbeck to exploit the possibilities offered by the Internet for spreading knowledge of Lundbeck, including - more specifically - knowledge of our products and training programmes. The site will be available to selected Internet users at the beginning of 1998, i.e. to psychiatrists, neurologists and other doctors with an interest in the problems associated with the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Lundbecks employees will also have access to the site. From 1996 to 1997, the total number of Internet users rose by 170%, from 15 to 40 million. Seventeen per cent of the adult population in Europe and the USA have access to this global network, most of them in the 20-40 year age group. It is estimated that an average of 20-30% of European psychiatrists regularly use the Internet, i.e. either daily or weekly. A similar percentage plan to use the medium in the future. On top of that, 20-25% of all searches on the Internet are related to health. So although the Internet is still in its infancy, the medium is already - and will increasingly become - a major competitive parameter for the pharmaceutical industry. In the column on the right we show some of the possibilities which the first version of PsychiatryLink offers its users. However, we intend to update the Internet site frequently with a view to creating a dynamic forum that will help to manifest and strengthen Lundbecks position as a specialist within the CNS field and as a valuable partner for the psychiatric profession. The future content will be planned in close collaboration with a number of leading psychiatrists, partly on the basis of the feedback we receive from users of PsychiatryLink. PsychiatryLink offers a number of options; for instance, on our Internet site, you can: find information about Lundbecks products find an introduction to and news about EPOS etc. (see page 30) get detailed introduction to Lundbeck International Psychiatric Institute and the educational programmes offered download short presentations on selected topics within psychiatry gain access to an electronic version of Psychotropics, which is a comprehensive survey of all psychopharmaceuticals on the market read selected articles by leading experts in the field access regularly updated lists of international meetings and addresses access lists of Internet sites of potential interest make your opinion known on a given topic contact local Lundbeck companies via e-mail 29 Contents Supervisory Board and Board of Management A clear vision The way forward A continuously dev Supervisory Board Arne V.
