Lundbeck Annual Report 05 12 - 13 70 - 71 23 3. Staff costs, continued Warrant scheme for the Executive Management and Danish and foreign executives (2005 plan) In 2005, the company established a warrant programme for the Executive Management and Danish and foreign executives. 76 employees were granted a total of 647,000 warrants, 160,000 of which were allocated to the Executive Management. The warrants had vested fully from the commencement of the programme and may be exercised during the period from 2 October 2006 to 31 March 2009. The exercise price is DKK 179.00 throughout the exercise period. No warrants were exercised under this scheme in 2005. The market value of the warrants at the time of grant is calculated using the Black-Scholes formula and is based on a volatility of the Lundbeck share of 29.5%, a dividend payout ratio of 1.45%, a risk-free interest rate of 2.5%, an average maturity of approximately 28 months and a share price of H. Lundbeck A/S of DKK 159.60. This translates into a market value of DKK 21.94 per warrant. The warrants granted are recognised in the income statement for 2005 at an expense of DKK 14.1 million, which corresponds to the market value at the time of grant calculated according to the Black-Scholes formula. The calculation is based on an exercise price of DKK 179.00, a quoted price of DKK 130.40, a volatility of 29.4%, a dividend payout ratio of 1.45% and a risk-free interest rate of 2.9%. Share price based plan for employees in foreign subsidiaries (1999 plan) In 1999, the employees of foreign subsidiaries received a share price based plan, according to which employees employed by the Group throughout the period from 1 September 1999 to 3 January 2005 received a cash amount. The size of the amount depended on how much the price of the Lundbeck share at 3 January 2005 exceeded DKK 13.13 per share (equal to the special price of the Danish employee share plan). The share price based plan could not be converted into shares because the value of the plan was distributed as a cash amount. The plan expired on 3 January 2005 and the value has been disbursed as a cash amount. The plan is recognised in the income statement for 2005 at an expense of DKK 0.6 million (DKK 13.0 million in 2004).
