The year 2007 in review We basically achieved our goals in 2007, making this another good year. All of the companys key indicators are moving in the right direction, and this also applies in the field of health, safety and the environment, where we have taken a number of initiatives and accomplished a range of strong results. However, this is not to say that we can simply lean back and relax. We aim to be among the leaders in the fields of HS&E, and that will require a constant effort, now and in the future. Lars Bang, Executive Vice President, SOE A year involving a high level of activity and both good and bad news. That is how executive vice president Lars Bang looks back on 2007. Lundbeck ended up by having a good year overall, even though we took some heavy blows along the way when two of our most promising projects gaboxadol and desmoteplase were discontinued. We got back on track and ended the year with a piece of good news when we signed the agreement with Japan-based Takeda. The year also brought good news in the field of health, safety and the environment. We launched a number of initiatives to focus on the physical well-being of our employees. These initiatives spanned from the food we serve in our canteen and the pedometer campaign to running practice and Europes largest relay race in Copenhagen, where Lundbeck participated with its biggest team to date. The unquestionably biggest initiative, however, was the completion of the Lundbeck Sport activity centre, which is open to all employees. We expect a lot from this facility. The psychological working environment has been on our agenda for many years, but 2007 proved to be a turning point. We have now taken a major step forward and intend to keep the momentum going. Our arrangements on the topic of stress have been very popular, we have developed tools to combat the problems in a constructive way, and we can see that our managers and employees are starting to use these tools. Another important innovation was the adoption of a CO2 strategy for Lundbeck. We have resolved to maintain the 2006 level of CO2 emissions until 2016. For many years already, we have endeavoured to reduce our energy consumption, and we can see that our efforts have not been in vain. All energy consumption figures at Valby were reduced in 2007, not least owing to awareness among our employees, who are taking a great interest in reducing energy consumption. Comprehensive resources have been allocated to succeed with these endeavours. The certification of our HS&E system also required many resources throughout our organisation. We have accomplished a lot already, and reports from our external auditors indicate that we can justifiably say that we are in control of things; there is a strong correlation between what we say and what we do. These initiatives will continue in 2008, and that also applies to our certification efforts, which are expected to be completed during the first half of the year. Also, we will continue our efforts to keep the number of accidents down. In 2007, we recorded the lowest number of accidents since 2003, but we can and we must become even better.
